Garvagh Museum to launch a new exhibition
‘First World War in a Century of Conflict’.
The launch of the exhibition will be on Friday 23rd May 2014 at 7.30pm in Garvagh Community Building.
The display will include many interesting artifacts including an oriental sword once displayed in the office of Admiral Von Tirpitz, Commander of the German Navy at the beginning of World War 1;
German pickelhaubes (spiked helmets) and also a rare pickelhaube first issued to the Portuguese Army in 1900; uniforms, medals and other relics of this great conflict. There will also be a smaller display on World War 2 in an adjoining gallery in Garvagh Community Building, 85 Main Street, Garvagh. Admission free. Light refreshments available the night of the launch.
