Garvagh’s Time Travel Festival

We’re really excited to announce Garvagh Forest’s Time Travel Festival this year running from Friday 3rd August – Saturday 4th August. Come along and spread the word!

3rd August – Stone Soup Gathering in the Beechwood learning about how the Forest has been shaped over 1000s of years. Try your hand at Foraging, Fun and Food and contribute to cooking the Stone Soup. Booking is essential. 7.30 – 9.00 pm

4th August – Family adventure through time in the Forest finding Garvagh’s Lost Coins and returning them to the town. Start of the journey at Forest Carpark, off the A29. 12.00 – 4.00 pm (last ‘journey’ at 3.00 pm)

Garvagh Forest Strollers

Garvagh Forest Strollers Group (aka Beginners’ Walking Group) is starting up again on Thursday 7th June and running every Thursday thereafter. Meet at Garvagh Community Building @9.30 am. Open to all wishing to take it slowly through the forest.

Garvagh Forest Youth Club

Garvagh Forest Youth Club runs on a monthly basis, on the last Saturday of the month from 2.00 – 4.00 pm. It is open to all 9-14 year olds and costs £5 per young person. Registration essential.

Garvagh Forest Summer Scheme

Afternoon Summer Scheme in Garvagh Forest for 9-14 year olds. Activities will include simple bushcraft, wood-craft, forest art, story-telling and finishing with a party on the Friday to which parents are invited to. £30 for the week. Registration is essential contact Karin on 07966202184. Summer Scheme starts on Monday 23rd July and runs to Friday 25th July from  2pm to 5pm each day.

5K Fun Run in Garvagh Forest

You might not feel like it tonight but here’s something to look forward to on 12th May in the middle of the bluebells and the beginning of Spring. Great family event to begin getting fit for.

Crochet Classes

The “Make Up Workshop” is returning to the Garvagh Community Building(GADDA centre) on Saturday 28th April 2018 – starting at 11am until 2pm – investment £20….This is a very relaxed morning/afternoon where you can take along your own make up and learn some tricks of the make up world……come along and see how to perfect a natural make up look (the less is more look…without the massive eyebrow trend) and then how to apply a beautiful natural eye make up & an fresh evening look which will have you all ready for the summer!! Teenage Make up Morning

Teenage Make up Morning with Martina Mullan make up artist on Saturday 20th January 2018 from 11am to 2pm in Garvagh Community Building.
Teenagers love to experiment with make up …. this workshop is aimed at younger “Makeup Enthusiasts” in an effort to help them achieve the correct skills to apply cosmetics.

Garvagh Christmas Tree Festival

CHRISTMAS EVENT: Christmas Tree Festival 2017
This is set to be a wonderful event in support of Cancer Research UK.

Garvagh Committee for Cancer Research UK invite you and your friends to a Christmas Tree Festival in Garvagh Community Building, 85 Main Street, Garvagh BT51 5AB.  The event will be opened on Friday 1st December 2017 by Maurice Bradley MLA at 4pm.  Festival opening hours are Friday 1st December 2017 4pm to 9.30pm , Saturday 2nd December 2017 11am to 9pm and Monday 4th December 2017 11am to 9pm.  Voluntary donations – all proceeds to CRUK.  Refreshments will be served.

Unplugged

Anyone fancy a go at ‘unplugged woodworking ‘? Even better, learning about it in a forest! I’m teaming up with the wonderful folks at Garvagh people’s forest to run a five week course where you can learn how to use old school hand tools to make things from reclaimed wood. We’ll learn about the tools, basic woodworking techniques, and lots of ideas for recycling wood. Projects will include making phone stands, a bench, and hazel walking sticks.

Speech and Drama

Garvagh People’s Forest – Beginners Walking Group

Thank you to everyone who turned up to the Beginners’ Walking Group information meeting yesterday – it was lovely to meet you all.
With the support of Garvagh Community Walking Group, the Beginners Walking Group will commence on Thursday 21st September 2017 at 9.30am meeting in Garvagh Community Building and will make our way to Garvagh Forest where over the Autumn we will walk on different trails around the forest. Walks will be suitable for all those wishing to begin gentle walking and will finish with refreshments at the end of each walk back in Garvagh Community Building. Everyone Welcome.
