The Brickx Club is a creative brick building and social activity club for girls and boys aged 5-12years. At the workshop there will be a series of themes and challenges to allow the children to use their imagination and creativity while interacting with other children. The theme of this Pottery workshop is ‘Summertime in Garvagh’
The focus will be geometric shapes – constructing the shapes using handbuilding techniques, slabwork, coiling and pinch – individually decorating the pieces with imprint and incision, symbolic to Garvagh ( eg the Clock Tower, Garvagh Forest, the Pyramid, Agivey River etc.). In addition we will create individual animal sculptures. Finally a visit from the Potters wheel for the final day!!

Family Festival in Garvagh Forest
Friday 4th and Saturday 5th August 2016

Delighted to announce Garvagh People’s Forest “Words in the Woods Festival”. During the Festival we will be running a ‘Drop In’ Space in Garvagh Community Building to hear more about the project, there will be artists, musicians and mime artists on the streets, and we will be holding our first Stone Soup Gathering (booking essential) culminating with our ‘Fairytales in the Forest’ event. The Gavagh Quest

The Garvagh Quest is an interactive game (part treasure hunt, part immersive theatre), created by Big Telly Theatre Company and led by actors, traders and volunteers, starting at the Garvagh Community Building and using multiple locations across Garvagh.
ADULTS – £4 KIDS – £2
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the protection of a village called Garvagh 54.9833° N, 6.6876° W, altitude 71 metres, a village on the banks of the Agivey River, 18 kilometres south of Coleraine on the A29 route. Your task is to defeat Abhartach, a wicked wizard who has returned to Garvagh and now threatens to conquer the village and cancel Christmas for ever. But Abhartach does not know that teams of highly skilled operatives working undercover are ready to thwart his evil plan. He also does not know that Garvagh, thanks to the Grand Tour of a certain Lord, has a secret weapon which, if correctly harnessed, will catapult Abhartach into oblivion.
What to do next……..
Participants MUST book in advance, in group sizes of between 4-8, with each team given a time slot at ten minute intervals. Each team begins their journey at the allotted time and uncovers a series of clues which take them on a journey through the town, in and out of shops, cafes and public areas. The experience lasts an hour.
As part of the experience happens outdoors, please bring appropriate footwear/clothing. The game is suitable for ages 8+ and each team must include at least one adult. There will be refreshments at the end of your quest in Garvagh Community Building.

The Brickx Club

The Brickx Club is coming to Garvagh Community Building on Sunday 27th November 2016 and will be running two workshops one from 11am to 1pm and another from 2pm to 4pm. The workshop is a Lego brick building club for children aged 3-12. They focus on learning through play and build different models and challenges ro stimulate children’s creativity.

The Brickx Club is excellent for developing fine motor skills, reinforcing basic maths and engineering concepts, sparking creativity and learning social skills and self esteem.
